Resident of Sunnyvale, CA David (Dave) W. Scholz was a devoted husband, father and grandpa “extraordinaire” who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dave was born in San Francisco and grew up the youngest of four brothers in Palo Alto. He attended Serra High School in San Mateo and was a proud member of the 1954 championship football squad. Dave earned a degree in Economics from Stanford University, where he played rugby, joined Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and met the love of his life, Charlotte Maytham. He was part of the Army ROTC in college and joined the Army Reserves after college. Dave obtained his MBA from Santa Clara University and spent the majority of his career in sales, ultimately opening his own commercial real estate brokerage.

Dave lived in Sunnyvale for nearly 60 years and was an active parishioner at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church. His contributions to the community were many, ranging from teaching catechism and coaching youth soccer to supporting political campaigns and feeding the homeless. He refereed AYSO youth soccer games into his 70’s and enjoyed attending all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist and found great peace during time spent in nature. He spent his 80th birthday on the top of Half Dome and hiked in Rancho San Antonio Preserve multiple times a week right up to his passing.

Time spent with family was precious to Dave and many happy memories were created during vacation gatherings at Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and The Sea Ranch. Dave and Charlotte recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in the company of beloved family. Dave is survived by his wife, Charlotte, children Diane Regonini (Todd) of Portola Valley, Bonnie Puleo (Mike) of Nampa, ID and Doug Scholz (Stacey) of El Dorado Hills, as well as 7 grandchildren whom he showered with love, affection, advice and many highlighted article clippings!
