Steven R. Boyle
It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved husband, Steve Boyle, on August 2, 2021. Steve succumbed to a virulent form of lung cancer, but fought it with dignity and grace.
Steve grew up on a large dairy farm outside Wichita, Kansas. After graduation from Kansas State as an engineer, he was hired by Texas Instruments and moved to Houston, Texas. His dream was to live and work in northern California and companies in Silicon Valley made that dream come true. Education was important to him and as a “Renaissance Man” he took over 35 classes at Stanford, Continuing Studies. When he retired from Sun Microsystems, where he was a chip designer, he filled his time with his many passions. These included bridge, reading everything from history to political thought, actively supporting the Democratic Party, and traveling with his wife throughout Europe. His interest in music ran from classical to rock. He had season tickets to the S.F. Symphony, Berkeley Rep,
Marin Theater Company, and was an avid movie goer. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting in neighborhood cafes, reading, and drinking his beloved coffee.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Rosen, his mother, Ellen Boyle, brother Max Boyle and his wife Jan, sister Rebecca Fryar, nephew Mark Boyle, niece Jennifer Alexander, step daughter Kim Rosen Kulp and her husband Jack, and step grandsons, Andrew and Jordan Kulp. Gifts in his memory may be given to the American Cancer Society or Planned Parenthood of Northern California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
