-

Coronavirus issues are already a big story line before several season openers.

Most notably, Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu was added to the active roster from the COVID-19 list, and the three-time All-Pro was listed as questionable for Kansas City’s regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday after testing positive for the virus on Sept. 1. Mathieu had been vaccinated.

Also activated from the list was Miami left tackle Austin Jackson (vaccinated), who is eligible to play in the team’s opener at New England. But Dolphins tight end Adam Shaheen was not activated; he is unvaccinated and on the COVID-19 list for the second time this season. In other NFL moves, Raiders left guard Richie Incognito (calf ) will miss the opener against the Ravens . ... The Patriots elevated kicker Nick Folk and backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to the active roster from the practice squad, while receiver Malcolm Perry was placed on injured reserve . ... The Titans placed kicker Sam Ficken (groin) on injured reserve and signed Michael Badgley off the practice squad . ... The Jets placed safety Sharrod Neasman (hamstring) on injured reserve and promoted safety Adrian Colbert and linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips from the practice squad . ... The Bears ruled out nose tackle Eddie Goldman (knee, ankle) against the Rams.
