-

Aurelia (Rae) (Yella) Lynch died peacefully on July 14th, 2021 at her home at The Magnolia of Millbrae surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old.

Throughout her life, Aurelia was a person who cared about people. She had a unique ability to connect with people and defied stereotypes for her age with her use of technology, interacting with loved ones thru texting, Instagram, and Facebook. She was a sweet woman loved by all. A quote from Author Leo Buscaglia captures her perfectly “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” She placed love for family and friends above all else. She touched many lives with her warmth and caring. She will be missed more than words can say.

Aurelia was a first generation Mexican-American and a native San Franciscan. She was raised on Post Street in San Francisco and was a graduate of St. Dominic’s and Girl’s High School. Her career included jobs at Railway Express, Atlas Credit Association, and as the longtime credit manager at Cable Car Clothiers. Aurelia had many fond memories of her time in St. James Parish. She made countless friends with many wonderful families that she cherished. She was a lifelong supporter of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. She loved playing card games such as Pedro and Hearts, was also known to be seen at the turf club on occasion, and enjoyed her Columbo and Matlock reruns.

Aurelia had a thing for guys named James. Her husband, James Lynch (1979), her friend and companion, Jim Phillips (2007), and most recently her great grandson James Anderson. When a granddaughter married a James, she approved saying “we’ve had good luck with them.”

She is predeceased by her parents Catarino and Guadalupe (Urrea) Cuevas, her husband James Lynch (1979), brothers Rafael, Anthony, Santiago, sister in laws Anita Cuevas, Eleanor (Jerry) Hadsell, Loretta (Frank) Fitzgerald, and Irene (Martin) Lara. She is survived by her three sons Kevin (Anne), Edward (Kelli), and Raymond (Cindi), her grandchildren, Ellen Lynch, Karen (Jim) Lynch, Emily (Steve) Anderson, Conor Lynch, Erin Lynch, Larrisa (Jack) Petro, Ryan Lynch, great grandchild James Anderson, her sister Anna Lara Whittaker, sister in law Marie Cuevas, the Phillips family, many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, any many wonderful cousins and friends.

The Family would like to thank all the people who provided Aurelia with wonderful care during her illness. She was blessed to have exceptional Doctors and their staff attend to her, and was well cared for by her Magnolia of Millbrae family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Dominic’s Church, on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 10:00 AM, 2390 Bush St, San Francisco.

In lieu of flowers you are welcome to make a donation to St James School, 321 Fair Oaks St in San Francisco, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
