- By mail:

An inspiration to all who knew her, Maxine Samuel Dickson passed away peacefully on August 27th surrounded by family. She and her brother, Bernard, grew up in their beautiful home in Forest Hill, San Francisco. It was the first home built in the area and Maxine lived there for 102 years, except for the 4 years she spent at Stanford Univ. where she graduated with honors in 1940.

In 1941, she earned her Graduate Degree in Social Welfare at UC Berkeley and then married the love of her life, Milton Dickson. In 1951, they built a vacation home in Rubicon, Lake Tahoe, where they spent 3 months during the summer with their 6 kids away from the SF fog.

After Milton passed away in 2001, Maxine continued to spend her summers at the lake for a total of 68 years. Maxine was a voracious reader and had a tremendous zest for life. She loved tennis, gardening, cooking, dressing up in costumes for parties, kayaking, hiking, fishing, skiing, traveling around the world, and entertaining family and friends.

Maxine is survived by her 6 adult children: Gary, Wendy, Jill Relles, Kit Harwood, Sue, and Eve Eppard; her 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
