Joanne Mary Andreotti

-

Joanne Mary Giuliani was born on 11/30/1941 in San Francisco, California to William and Lena Giuliani. She grew up in the North Beach area of San Francisco, attending St. Brigid Elementary and Presentation High School.

Joanne and Richard truly had a lifelong love story! They first met at age 4, while playing in the sandbox at the North Beach Playground. Eight years later, Richard would frequent Dolly’s Soda Fountain in North Beach, where Joanne’s mother worked, so he could visit with her daughter. Rich and Joanne dated throughout their high school years and married on May 7, 1961 at St. Peter and Paul’s church. They purchased a home in the Marina District and soon welcomed daughter, Kelly Ann and son, Richard William. For several decades, Joanne and Rich had a cabin in the Sierras, spending weekends and vacations there with the kids, fishing and hiking. Joanne’s father taught her to fish at a young age and she continued to enjoy the sport throughout her life. Once the kids were in high school, Joanne took a clerical position at Agnew’s Drug Store and later at Burton’s Pharmacy, both of which were located on Chestnut Street. At age 62, Rich and Joanne moved permanently to their home in downtown Sonoma. There she was active in women’s golf, cultivating many dear friendships. She was a dedicated to a local gym and very devoted to her yoga. Joanne’s most favorite things in life were to spend time with family and to go out to movies with one of her closest friends, Joanie DiMaggio. She always enjoyed a cold beer or a glass of wine or champagne. She and Richard were blessed to have had 61 years of marriage- a feat not many can boast of today!

Joanne died peacefully at home in Sonoma on 11/6/21, surrounded by family. We will forever miss her smile, her laugh, her wit and pragmatic ways.

The family thanks her close friends and neighbors who have been so kind and generous towards us all over the years, but most especially over the past months. We thank the staff at By the Bay Hospice, who has been nothing less than amazing in their responsiveness and respectfulness in her care and support. Joanne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Louis Andreotti of Sonoma, Ca; daughter Kelly Murtagh (David) of San Francisco, Ca; son, Rick ( Jane) of Knightsen, Ca; grandchildren Alex Andreotti (Kacie) of Juneau, Alaska and Julian Andreotti of Bronx, New York. Last but not least, her beloved Black Labrador, “Ellie.”

A celebration of her life will be planned for early 2022. Those wishing to make a donation in her name can do so to the charity of their choice, and for that, we thank you.
