Dr. Ruth Marie Jackson

-

Dr. Ruth Marie Jackson was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and community leader. She left this world suddenly on November 7, 2021 at the age of 77. Dr. Jackson was an Education specialist with the San Francisco Unified School District for over 22 years serving the people of San Francisco, and received an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Sacramento Theological Seminary & Bible College on June 29, 2019. Dr. Jackson has been recognized and received numerous awards for her community work from the U.S. Congress, U.S. Senate, CA State Legislature, and the former Mayor Willie Brown proclaimed March 13, 1998 as “Ruth Jackson’s Family Day”.

Her giving nature was unparalleled, as she was always ready to serve a meal to a hungry soul, gather groceries for families in need and put shoes on a child’s feet. She always said “If I got it, then it makes no sense to keep it, if somebody is in need. Giving is what we’re supposed to do!” And giving is what she did. As a true community advocate, her legacy will be defined by her passion to make a difference in the lives of others.

Dr. Jackson’s celebration of life service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on November 24, 2012 at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church (6190 3rd St., SF, CA). Quiet hour is from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Cornerstone.
