Two Islanders games postponed for virus

The NHL has postponed two more games for coronaviru­srelated reasons, making it five so far this season. Upcoming New York Islanders games Sunday at against the Rangers and Tuesday in Philadelph­ia were postponed after additional members of the team went into the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol Saturday.

General manager Lou Lamoriello said forward Casey Cizikas became the latest player to test positive for the coronaviru­s. The Islanders would have had as many as eight players unavailabl­e.

The league said the possibilit­y of additional spread contribute­d to the Islanders’ games through at least Tuesday being called off for now. Cizikas joined captain Anders Lee, fellow forwards Ross Johnston and Kieffer Bellows and defensemen Zdeno Chara, Adam Pelech and Andy Greene in protocol, and wing Josh Bailey only recently resumed skating after being quarantine­d.

The NHL postponed three Ottawa Senators games in midNovembe­r because of that team’s virus outbreak.

Avalanche 6, Predators 2: Mikko Rantanen had a hat trick and an assist, Bo Byram scored in his return to the lineup, and host Colorado beat Nashville. Cale Makar had three assists, but his goal-scoring streak ended at five games

Stars 3, Coyotes 2: Roope Hintz scored his seventh goal in eight games and Dallas extended its winning streak to four with a road win. Jacob Peterson and Jason Robertson also scored for the Stars, who have won six of their past seven.

Canadiens 6, Penguins 3: Montreal scored five third-period goals to snap a seven-game road losing streak. Josh Anderson scored two empty-netters in the third period and Tyler Toffoli added another.

Oilers 3, Golden Knights 2: Mikko Koskinen stopped 36 shots and earned his 11th victory as visiting Edmonton beat Vegas.

King 4, Senators 2: Carl Grundstrom scored twice for host Los Angeles. Viktor Arvidsson had a power-play goal and Arthur Kaliyev also scored to help the Kings end a five-game losing streak.

Kraken 4, Panthers 1: Chris Driedger made 33 saves against his former team, helping Seattle deny Florida what would have been a record-setting 12th consecutiv­e home win to start the season.

Blues 6, Blue Jackets 3: Pavel Buchnevich and Ivan Barbashev each scored twice and host St. Louis beat Columbus.

Red Wings 3, Sabres 2: Lucas Raymond scored 25 seconds into overtime for host Detroit.

Jets 4, Flames 2: Kyle Connor scored his second goal of the game late in the third period to break a tie and Winnipeg held on to beat host Calgary.
