Lillian Paganini Matulich, of San Mateo, passed away October 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and dear friends. Lillian was born in San Mateo on July 18, 1919, to Assunta and Domineco Paganini. She was the youngest of 6 children. Lillian attended Lawrence Grammar School and San Mateo High. After completing business college, Lillian worked as a secretary for Claude J. Hirschey at the First Western Bank & Trust on Burlingame Avenue (Wells Fargo location).

Lillian met her husband, Joe of 71 years, at a St. Matthew’s youth dance. They enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends. Kauai was her favorite vacation spot to relax, read and play golf with her family.

After her children were in school, she started working part time in the Human Resources Department with the State of California where she retired after 25 years. During her retirement, Lillian was a volunteer docent at Filoli in Woodside for 31 years and a member of the hiking club out of Little House Senior Center in Menlo Park.

Lillian is survived by her husband Joe, son Jay and grandson Joey, daughter Jan (Greg) and grandchild­ren, Grayson, Greer and

Grant Chrisman. Many nieces, nephews and cousins including Bill Belardi, Darlene Pasqini and Maria Pignati.

Lillian’s family would like to thank Mission Hospice and Dr. Michelle’s team for their outstandin­g care and compassion. Also, many thanks to family and friends that have visited their Noni, Auntie, Lili and Lillian this past year.

Lillian’s private service will be held on November 29 at Holy Cross Cemetery, her celebratio­n of life will be on November 29, 11:30am at the Peninsula Italian American Social Club, 100 N. B St., San Mateo 650-3437981. Proof of vaccinatio­n is mandatory, and masks are required.
