ZEKE BERRY

(DE LA SALLE-CONCORD)

Not only did Berry rarely leave the field, but the Michigan-bound standout was all over it for The Chronicle’s No. 1 team.

“He played seven different positions,” coach Justin Alumbaugh said. “Safety, cornerback, linebacker, receiver, running back, quarterback and both return spots. We used him every way we could.”

The hard-hitting 6-foot, 195-pounder is ranked the No. 65 senior overall in the country and No. 9 safety by 247Sports. He averaged 8.16 yards per 32 carries (261 yards), 17.1 yards on his seven catches, 35.5 yards on 10 kick returns (two of which resulted in TDs), completed 4 of 5 passes for 196 yards and two scores and had 35 tackles, two forced fumbles, two sacks and an interception.

“Zeke is no doubt one of the most complete football players we’ve ever had,” Alumbaugh said. “He’s going to have a heck of a football career.”
