Klay Thompson’s imminent return leaves one Warriors player still rehabilitating from a major injury — and center James Wiseman appears to finally be making substantive progress.

Wiseman participated in most of Saturday’s practice at Chase Center, head coach Steve Kerr said. Wiseman did not play in the team’s scrimmage, but he’s “trending in that direction,” according to Kerr.

“He was bouncing around practice today, going through our defensive drills,” Kerr said. “He looked like a kid on Christmas morning. I’m so excited for James; he appears to be in a really good place and heading in a good direction.”

Wiseman, 20, has not played in nearly nine months. He tore the meniscus in his right knee April 10 against Houston, had surgery shortly thereafter and has endured a slow, frustrating recovery.

But Wiseman joined the Warriors on their recent road trip to Dallas and New Orleans, and he will travel with them on the four-game trip starting Tuesday in Memphis. Kerr said the team hopes Wiseman can begin contact work — if not a full-scale scrimmage, then maybe 3-on-3 or 1-on-1 — sometime next week.

“All of that stuff needs to happen before he’s ready to play in a game, but that’s where it’s trending right now,” Kerr said.

Stephen Curry, who missed Thursday night’s game in New Orleans with a bruised quadriceps, was not listed on the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against Cleveland. Juan Toscano-Anderson is questionable with a sore left ankle.

Spoelstra on Klay: Warriors players and coaches, naturally, are optimistic about blending Thompson back into the mix after his 21⁄2-year recovery from major knee and Achilles injuries. They’re also not the least bit objective.

One detached observer, Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra, also expects a smooth transition — mostly because of Thompson’s playing style.

“It’s not like Klay’s game is something where they have to adjust what they do, in terms of usage or getting him touches,” Spoelstra said before his team fell to the Warriors on Monday night. “He’s just going to be running around all over the place, all of it unscripted. That’s all part of his beauty and the genius of how he plays.” Moody returns: The Warriors recalled rookie guard Moses Moody from their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Moody scored 31 points and had seven rebounds Friday night, as Santa Cruz outlasted Oklahoma City in double overtime.
