Salvatore James Cardinale

On Saturday Jan 1, 2022, Salvatore James Cardinale, (Lil’ Sal), loving husband and father of 3 daughters passed away in Monterey, CA at the age of 90. Salvatore was born on Nov 4, 1931 in San Francisco to Sam Cardinale and Mary Cecilio (Dracus). He met his wife Sandra West at the Emporium in San Francisco, and they married on April 7, 1967. Sal was preceded in death by his father Sam, his mother, Mary & his sisters Grace Lucido and Nina Mercurio. He is survived by his wife Sandra, his daughters; Maria Burke (Mike), Michelle Cardinale and Melissa Cardinale, his grandkids; Mary Frances, Michael, Megan, Nick, Trent, Troy, Rocco and Faith, plus 4 great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and too many friends to mention.

Lil’ Sal graduated from Monterey High School, attended MPC and went on to receive his B.S. in Business from San Jose State. He enjoyed his career as a purchaser for Emporium and an international importer of jewelry at Cost Plus in San

Francisco. Buying for Cost Plus took him all over the world, he travelled to exotic places and made friends along the way. After leaving Cost Plus, Sal started his own successful jewelry business that highlighted his eye for trends, his gift of gab and brilliant salesmanship.

A viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary on January 10, 2022 between 4-7pm. The funeral will start at 9:30am on January 11, 2022 at San Carlos Church, proceed to the San Carlos Cemetery and end with a luncheon nearby.
