Audrey J. Roualdes

-

On December 25th, Audrey Roualdes passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Audrey never lost her sense of humor and was constantly surrounded by her children and grandchildren until the end. Audrey was preceded in death by her sister, Elette, parents Edith and Primo Braghetta and her loving husband Edward of 58 years. She is survived by her four devoted children: Eddie (Mary), Michael (Jacqueline), Jeannie (Paul), and David (Amelia); and was adored by her grandchildren: Edward, Samantha, Kelsey, Sabrina, Nicole, Jessica, Chrissy, Kasey, David, Kylie and Nick and her great-granddaughter, Frances. Mom’s greatest love was undeniably her family.

Aud, as she was known by all her friends and Nonnie to her grandchildren, was born February 25, 1935 in San Francisco. Aud and Ed were among the original residents of Terra Linda in 1958 and so proud of their beautiful home. There was nothing that Aud would not do for her children, constantly providing love and support for her family. Aud and Ed worked tirelessly to give opportunities to their children and grandchildren and proudly shared their latest news and accomplishments. Nothing made her happier…but Circus Circus Casino was a close second.

Audrey had a love of all games, including cards with her “bridge ladies”, which she played faithfully every Thursday for well over 45 years, poker in Lake County with the boys and hitting the slot machines at Circus Circus, where the workers would welcome her by name with open arms. Mom was a dear friend to all.

In the last years of Audrey’s life, she required quite a bit of care, and she deserved only the best. Audrey’s main caregivers, Dr Phong, Karina, Kenia and Elizabeth were angels sent from Heaven. We sincerely thank and appreciate them for their dedication to our mother and the love they gave her. We are so touched and grateful for their compassion and kindness, especially at the end of her life. We could not have done it without them.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 11:00am at St. Isabella Church in Terra Linda, reception to follow in Parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, MichaelJFox.org or your favorite charity.
