Marilyn Ruth Curtis Stoops passed away peacefully at her home in Rossmoor, California just shy of her 103rd birthday. Born in Maywood, Illinois on February 9, 1919 to Charles Ernest Curtis and Harriet Moehrig Curtis and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marilyn enjoyed a full life, packed with many activities, good friends, and a close-knit family. She attended Shorewood High School, Principia College, and graduated in 1940 from the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Following her marriage in 1943 to Dale I. Stoops, a Yale Law school graduate and FBI agent, Marilyn moved to California in 1946 where she continued to reside until her death. Marilyn and Dale raised three children in the home they designed and built in Lafayette, California. Both Marilyn and Dale were active participan­ts in their community and in many different organizati­ons over the years. They were married 46 years until Dale’s death in 1989.

Marilyn enjoyed playing Bridge, both party and duplicate, her daily walks, traveling, a variety of activities with her close friends and family, her garden, and sports of all kinds. She was an avid Golden State Warrior’s fan and rarely missed a game! A life-long Christian

Scientist, Marilyn was a member of the Orinda Church, joining in 1950.

Marilyn is survived by two of her children, Robert Stoops of Orinda and Nancy Stoops Williams of Chico, as well as her daughterin-law Connie deLaveaga Stoops, four grandchild­ren, Jennifer Williams, Derek Stoops (Alexandra), Ashley Juhl-Darlington (Matt), and John Paul Stoops (Alison). She also had six greatgrand­children and a god son James Curtis of Illinois/ Florida with whom she kept in touch for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale Stoops, sister Jane Curtis Gates, brother Morgan Curtis, son-law Roger A. Williams, and youngest son William D. Stoops.
