-

Henry Adam Musto (Hank), after a short illness, passed away at Mills Peninsula Hospital on Tuesday December 21, 2021. Born in September of 1940 in San Francisco, CA to Thomas Adam Musto and Barbara Bonnell Musto, Henry had three siblings: Caroline (Caramia) Minor of Cincinnati, OH(1938-2020), Mario Musto of Woodside, CA, and Marguerite (Rita) Wilkinson of Redwood City, CA. Henry attended Woodside Elementary, The Del Monte School (Robert Louis Stevenson) and Bellarmine College Preparatory before studying business at U.C. Berkeley where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. It was at CAL that he met the love of his life, and wife of 45 years, Carolyn Anne Means(1942-2010) to whom he was wed in 1965. Henry went on to serve as a Lieutenant (j.g.) in the US Navy from 1965-1969. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy he joined the Joseph Musto Estate Co./ Musto Co. of San Francisco where he served as a real estate executive and both Vice President and Treasurer for over 40 years. He had an intimate knowledge and deep abiding love of San Francisco and Peninsula where he resided for his entire life.

A devoted husband, he and Carolyn resided in Manhattan Beach, Atherton and Hillsborough, CA where they raised three children; Adam Lamping Musto(Julie) of Vallejo, Marisa Anne O’Rielly (Greg) of Danville, and Caroline Marie Kuhl (Patrick) of Marina, CA. As a grandparent he doted on his seven grandchildren; John Henry, Megan Laura, Molly Anne, Annabelle Marisa, James Ireland, Joseph Duke and Carolyn Rose as well as the many nephews and nieces whom he adored.

An aficionado of motorcycles and scooters, vintage car racing, automobiles in general, jazz, art, architecture, California history as well as golf, tennis and gin martinis, Henry enjoyed memberships at Burlingame Country Club, Pacific Union Club and the Society of California Pioneers.

He had a nickname for everyone and everything and he loved his wife’s gardens and all animals great and small (he was known to serenade his pets late in the evening when taking out the garbage, much to the delight of his neighbors). An early riser, he had an uncanny ability for sniffing out any mischief he may have missed in his sleep. He loved a good nap in the sun, spending holidays in Palm Springs and La Jolla, CA with dear friends. Henry was able to remain in his own home thanks to his loyal caregivers Kalisi and Brenda. No formal services will be held as that was his wish. His ashes will be interred alongside Carolyn at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
