Allen Anthony Schuh

-

Allen loved Christmas, so as a final gift he got to see his beloved lights and ornaments one last time before passing quietly away on December 28. Born July 9, 1940 on Chicago’s South Side, Allen was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Holy Cross College and Harvard Law School. Allen served in the Judge Advocate General’s office of the US Army for two years, then practiced real estate law at Holleb and Coff in Chicago. Allen moved to San Francisco in 1988 to care for his (predeceased) partner Paul A. Anderson. A great chef and wonderful host, Allen’s house there was always open to friends and family and filled with laughter, love and food. A proud member of AA for over 40 years, sponsor of the Frameline Film Festival, Academy of Friends, and

Lambda Legal, Allen moved back to Chicago in 2017 and continued his love for mystery stories, the White Sox, and family. Even in the face of his final illness, you could always count on Allen’s caring heart, incredible generosity and compassion for others. Allen will be so very missed by his spouse Jonathan Swain, brothers Jack and wife Donna (Meilinger), Randy and wife Catherine (Inkel), David and wife Jan (Flaa). “Uncle A” will also be remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from around the country. Be at peace, Allen. Although there will be an empty spot at the table and in our hearts, now it is time for you to be looked after, and know that your holiday lights are shining a little brighter now. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
