Second generation native-born San Franciscan Beverly E. Malvin (nee Allen) died unexpected­ly at Kaiser from septic shock, while surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Malvin, her children, grandchild­ren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur J. Allen, Sr. (1973); her mother, Sophie D. Allen (nee Boegershau­sen, 1998); and her brother, Wilbur J. Allen, Jr. (2020). Beverly was a descendant of James Allen, progenitor of a historical­ly and culturally significan­t lineage that dates back to 1637 in American history. She was a graduate of George Washington High School and of San Francisco State University where she earned a B.A. in Sociology. Beverly was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was talented in sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She was also an avid reader, frequented the S.F. museums, and especially enjoyed socializin­g with her lifelong friends and relatives. Beverly had lovely character and was naturally well mannered, kind, compassion­ate, and ethical. Exceptiona­lly stable, reliable, and consistent, she was the anchor for her family and the foundation of their well-being. Her family is grateful for her presence in their lives; she was their best friend. Loved tremendous­ly, Beverly will always be in their hearts and forever missed. Visitation on Wednesday February 2, 2022, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, Ca. 94014. Funeral ceremony on Thursday February 3, 2022, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1111 O’Farrell Street, San Francisco, Ca. 94109. Interment following ceremony at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, Ca. 94014.
