Patricia Howard Bail

-

Patricia Howard Bail of Alameda passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 due to natural causes, with her family at her side.

Loyal, loving, and adored wife to her husband of 53 years, Paul. Cherished Mother to Jon-Paul, David (Courtney and daughter Gemma), Patrick, and Stephen (Shawna). Wonderful Grandmother to Daniel and Adam.

Pat was born on August 23, 1942, in Concord,

CA and lived in Oakland with her family before they moved to Alameda, where she would remain. A wonderful daughter to her parents, Estelle and Calvin Howard, as well as a great sister to her six brothers - Frank, Curt, Toby, Jack, Bill, and Sam. An endeared Aunt and cousin, she was always incredibly proud of her immediate and extended family, and they of her. Pat always said her children were her greatest accomplishments.

Forever advocating for youth, Pat succeeded, cofounding the Northern California chapter for the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation in 1972. Having lived in Alameda since an early age, her passion for the city was always evident. In 1995, Pat was named the Alameda Times-Star newspaper Woman of the Year for her activism fighting for Alameda’s youth. Her participation was instrumental in developing multiple youth sports facilities in town. In 2017, she was honored to have a world class baseball facility named for her, but was even more proud of the joys these locations will surely bring young people for years to come.

In addition to having had a great deal of charm, Pat had a clever and sharp sense of humor, and simply ‘told it like it is’. An exceptional and strong woman who was generous to all, she truly loved all people. Always there to listen and advise strongly, she made sure to always offer love and a hug. She truly was a master at helping one get the most out of their own strengths. An incredibly charming lady, our treasured Pat was fiercely loving, loyal and supportive to her family and many friends. She will forever be both missed and celebrated.

Family and friends are invited to attend the services in honor of Pat on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services. Pat will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland.
