Philly blanks winless Quakes

Cory Burke and Daniel Gazdag scored goals, Andre Blake saved all four shots he faced and the Union blanked the Earthquake­s 2-0 in Philadelph­ia on Saturday.

Burke’s goal — with an assist from Sergio Santos — put the Union (2-0-1) ahead in the 23rd minute. Gazdag stretched the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 58th minute.

The Union outshot the Earthquake­s 11-7 with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.

JT Marcinkows­ki had four saves for the Earthquake­s (0-2-1).

Sounders 3, Galaxy 2:

Xavier Arreaga scored the deciding goal on a header in the 72nd minute, sending Seattle past visiting Los Angeles. Alex Roldan assisted on Arreaga’s gamewinner to help the Sounders (1-2-0) pick up their first three points of the season.

LAFC 2, Inter Miami 0:

Goals from Kwadwo Opoku and Ismael Tajouri pushed Los Angeles past host Miami, which played a man down in the second half after Brek Shea drew a red card just before halftime.

NYCFC 4, CF Montreal 1:

Santiago Rodriguez delivered a pivotal goal in a home win for New York City over Montreal. Rodriguez’s goal put NYCFC (1-1-1) up 2-0 in the 20th minute.

Dynamo 2, Whitecaps 1:

Darwin Quintero scored a goal in each half to spark host Houston to a victory over Vancouver.

Crew 2, Toronto FC 1:

Lucas Zelarayan and Derrick Etienne Jr. scored second-half goals and host Columbus rallied to beat Toronto. The Crew outshot Toronto 15-8 and had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.

Real Salt Lake 3, Revolution 2:

Tate Schmitt scored a goal in the 3rd minute of second-half stoppage time, capping a wild comeback by Real Salt Lake in a snowy road victory over New England.

Fire 2, DC United 0:

Chicago posted its first win of the season, thanks to goals from Stanislav Ivanov and Jonathan Bornstein at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

Chelsea:

In an unpreceden­ted ruling against a club owner, the Premier League ordered Roman Abramovich on Saturday to stop running Chelsea and sell after he was sanctioned by the British government over Russia’s war on Ukraine and his close links to President Vladimir Putin. The league board’s decision to disqualify Abramovich from being a director accelerate­s the end of the Russian oligarch’s 19 years in control of the reigning world and European champions.

Ronaldo:

Cristiano Ronaldo scored only his second Manchester United hat trick to clinch a 3-2 victory over Tottenham, sending his team fourth in the Premier League. Ronaldo made an instant impact returning from injury, striking from 25 yards in the 12th minute in front of retired NFL QB Tom Brady at Old Trafford.
