Third-period hat trick lifts Isles
Brock Nelson scored three times in the third period for his fourth career hat trick, Semyon Varlamov made 37 saves and the host New York Islanders topped the Dallas Stars 4-2 on Saturday.
Ryan Pulock also scored for New York, which extended its point streak to six games.
Denis Gurianov and Jacob Peterson each had a goal and an assist, but the Stars lost for the fourth time in five games.
Oilers 6, Devils 3: Evander Kane snapped a third-period tie with his second goal of the game as host Edmonton won its fifth in a row. The Oilers trailed 3-2 before Tyson Barrie’s goal at 9:04 of the third tied it. Kane scored less than three minutes later, and Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid had insurance goals.
Penguins 4, Coyotes 1:
Sidney Crosby scored two of his team’s three third-period goals as visiting Pittsburgh won for the fourth time in five
games. Arizona had won six of seven.
Wild 3, Blackhawks 1:
Ryan Hartman scored with 3:13 left to snap a tie as host Minnesota finished off a four-game season sweep of Chicago. Cam Talbot made 21 saves to win his fifth straight, improving to 9-4-0 in his past 13 starts.
Golden Knights 5, Kings 1:
Logan Thompson stopped a career-high 37 shots as host Vegas won its second straight after a five-game losing streak.
Blue Jackets 5, Blues 4:
Gus Nyquist, Patrik Laine and Emil Bemstrom each had a goal and an assist as host Columbus won for the fourth time in five games by topping St. Louis — which got a hat trick from Davie Peron in its third straight loss.
Canadiens 5, Senators 1:
Paul Byron, Cole Caufield and Joel Armia scored second-period goals as host Montreal halted a two-game skid. Ottawa has lost four of five.
Predators 6, Maple Leafs 3:
Matt Duchene, Filip Forsberg, Yakov Trenin and Eeli Tolvanen each had a goal and an assist for host Nashville, which won for the third time in four games.
Briefly: The Panthers acquired forwards Claude Giroux and Connor Bunnaman from the Flyers for forward Owen Tippett and two draft picks, including a 2024 first-round
