Joe passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 78 on December 30, 2021. Joe was born in Galveston, Texas on June 5, 1943 to Andrew and Josephine O’Balle. The youngest of eight children, he was predecease­d by his siblings Chico, Theresa, Gilbert, Rudy and survived by Robert (Sandra), Chuck (Phyllis) and Vicki (Charlie dec.) Endeared brother-inlaw of Sandy Rodricks. Joe graduated from Mission High School, class of 1961. After graduation, he worked at the Naval Shipyards in Hunter’s Point. He met his wife, Donna, in 1963 and they were married on February 27, 1965 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in San Francisco. Joe joined the Insulator’s Union, Local 16, in March of 1965 and spent many years as a proud member of his union, retiring in 1997. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Donna. They had three sons: Joey (Molly), Michael, and Kibber (dec.) (Pam) He was the proud Papa of Jake, Cole, Maddie, Max and Connor, his pride and joy.

Joe was a 49er Faithful from the old Kezar days; a season ticket holder until their move to Santa Clara. Many memories were made watching and attending S.F. Giants games with family and friends. A special day included fishing with his sons at Lake Merced and Putah Creek. Aside of having impressive cooking skills, his manhattan recipe was wanted by all. Clearlake and Tahoe were his favorite vacation spots. Joe had an abundance of friends from the bocce courts, neighborho­od, pedro games, and The South City Elks. Truly a kind, gentle man who will be missed by all.

A Memorial Mass will be on March 26th @ 11:00 AM at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church in Burlingame. Donations may be made in memory of his youngest son, Colonel Christophe­r (Kib) O’Balle, USMC, who passed away from ALS on Feb. 6, 2022.
