Died peacefully on 12 March 2022 at her home in Corte Madera, California with her dog Coal beside her and surrounded by her family, at the age of 78. She was born on 26 August 1943 in Detroit Michigan daughter of Alex and Bette Gikkas. Diane was educated at Wayne State with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and worked as an Interior Designer for her entire working career. Diane worked at JL Hutson’s in Detroit, Michigan before moving to California in 1970, where she worked at SMP Architects in San Francisco until moving to the firm of Gensler and Associates in San Francisco in 1978. There she retired after 30+ years of service. Diane worked on various interior design projects such as the Crocker Bank Headquarte­rs in San Francisco, and Dryers Ice Cream Headquarte­rs in Berkeley. Her final and most prestigiou­s project was the Headquarte­rs of The Gary Rodgers Family Foundation in Oakland.

She was very proud of her Greek heritage and a master of cooking Dolmades.

She is survived by her loving and devoted family, her husband Allen Williams of Corte Madera, her brother Alan Gikkas, wife Isabelle Marquet and daughter Alyssa Gikkas of Novato, her brother Peter Gikkas, wife Vickie Hatos and daughter

Stephanie Gikkas of San Rafael, niece Lisa Beda/ Webb, husband James Beda and daughter Daphne Beda, and niece Ali Parker/Webb, husband Damon Parker and son Cortland Parker.

Her love of travel and fly fishing took her to numerous corners of the world. From Alaska and British Columbia to the north, to New Zealand, Costa Rica and the British Virgin Island to the south, to Greece, England, France, Turkey, and Italy to the east, and to Hawaii and the Philippine­s to the west. But her most favorite place on earth was flyfishing on the Fall River up in Northern California.

A private service is planned for the family. A celebratio­n of life will be scheduled sometime in the near future. Memorial contributi­ons in Diane’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n. Assisted by Monte’s Cha[pel of the Hills, San Anselmo, CA.
