Marylee Diane Patricia McMurray Stanley 19352022 Marylee Stanley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, died peacefully March 15, 2022. Our Mom, Marylee, was a second-generation San Francisco native. Raised in the Sunset District of San Francisco by a savvy Italian mom, a wild Irish father and a firecracker of an aunt “ReRe”. Her summers were spent in Camp Meeker/Occidental with her extended family where she watched her father host the outdoor vaudeville shows on Friday nights.

Mom was a legal secretary in downtown San Francisco. In 1956, while vacationing with her girlfriends she went to the White House Bar in Laguna Beach and met a marine by the name of William Walker Stanley, a native New Yorker and recent graduate of University of Notre Dame. When she had the chance to see him in his formal Marine Whites, she was done. They were married a year later and lived a life together that was never dull until his passing in 2001. Our Mom made the house we grew up in a Home. Cherished friendships were made at the tennis club. She was an amazing cook for us, our extended family, business associates and friends alike. Because of her, friends were drawn to our house, to Mom’s loving personality and ability to make everyone feel welcome. She and Dad travelled the world, but she was happiest at home surrounded by her family. After Dad’s passing, Mom once again showed her talents by moving to an Eichler and remodeling from the ground up, making it a true thing of beauty. Until the day she died, her top priority was her family. She always, always answered the phone.

Mom will go on to join her love, Bill, her parents Bert and Lena, granddaughter Shevaun and many other family and friends who’ve journeyed on before her. She will be forever missed by her children, Therese Marie, Kevin Michael (Jeanine), Lisa Anne (Josh), Katy Mary, and Mari Rita (Mars), grandchildren; Sean, Tess, Nicole, Jennifer, Ben and Blaire and great grandchildren; Lyla, Stella and Jake.

A gathering to celebrate the life of our mother will be held at daughter Therese’s home, 8 Twelveoak Dr, San Rafael, Friday, March 25th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Annual Gift Fund of Alma Via of San Rafael for the wonderful team that provided care for our mother or Hospice By the Bay Health of Marin.
