Judith “DeBenedetti” Leary

-

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and jazz lover Judith Leary, died in her Redwood City home with her best friend, companion, and daughter, Catherine by her side. Judith courageously battled various health conditions, bravely receiving dialysis treatment the past 5 years. Judith was born and raised in San Francisco attending Corpus Christi School and Presentation High School. She worked at Parker Pen in San Francisco before starting a family in Westlake. Wanting to escape the fog, the Learys moved to San Carlos, in part for Judith to work on her legendary tan. She was happiest raising her 5 children, staying active at St. Charles parish where she started the teen club and became known as homeroom mother extraordinaire. Judith ensured the Leary children were the perpetual bike decorating champions at the school. Participating in Chickens Ball, hosting parties, cheering on the Giants and 49ers and attending a good movie made her happy. Summertime brought out the best in Judith. If sunbathing was an Olympic sport, Judith would have captured the golden tan every year. Camping with family and friends at Napa Valley Ranch was a spectacle to be seen. Attending all the Leary sporting events encapsulated Judith’s giving nature. Family was everything to her. She held several jobs with Pain Weber, Dahnkens, Fox & Carskadon, Coldwell Banker before retiring at North American Title. Her bright smile welcomed customers and employees alike. Everyone felt important in Judith’s presence. Children and teenagers were especially attracted to her warmth and honesty. The door was always open at the Leary home. Judith was preceded in her death by her parents Alfred and Martha DeBenedetti. She is survived by her children Catherine Leary, Rob (Candace) Leary, Steve (Anita) Leary, Diana (Dave) George, and Brad (Kimeron Hardin) Leary; grandchildren Tyler, Alexis, Connor, Austin, Dawson and Jacob; great-grandson Cameron. Also surviving Judith is her beloved sister, Andree Eidler and her nephew Mark Breslin and nieces Stacey Breslin and Jackie Dixon.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 880 Tamarack Avenue in San Carlos. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judith’s honor may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society (mymsaa. org) Nova Ukraine (novaukraine.org) or The Point Foundation (https://pointfoundation.org).
