Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Thomas Charles Carey, passed peacefully in his sleep on April 16, 2022 in the comfort of his home. He was taken too soon and will be dearly missed. Tom was born in Honolulu on July 8, 1953 to Margaret and CDR Charles Carey USN. The Navy moved the family quite often. While living in Reno, Tom attended St. Albert the Great Elementary School where he was proud to accept the high honor and title of “Altar Boy of the World”. In 1967, the family was moved to Treasure Island Naval Station. He attended Riordan High School, playing Varsity football, graduating class of ‘71. He graduated in 1975 from UC Berkeley with a BA in Psychology and in 1977 married the love of his life Debbie Jasinski. Together they moved to Texas where Tom was in the Biopsychology PhD program at UT Austin. Deciding to change course, Tom and Debbie moved back to Berkeley where Tom completed his education with an MBA from UC Berkeley in 1980. Tom was a respected pharmaceutical executive and biopharma commercial veteran. He started his career at Eli Lilly before moving to Syntex where he became a VP before the age of 40. He continued his career at

Roche, OrthoNeutrogena, Connetics and BioCentury. Retiring in 2019 Tom sat on Stanford University’s Institutional Review Board. Tom built a beautiful life alongside his wife and four adoring children Jeanine Carey, Kathleen (Jared) Martin, Joanna (Nick) Helmer, Elizabeth (Ted) Sobolewski and seven precious grandchildren. He loved to plan family trips that took them around the world. He was an avid golfer, the “King of the Traeger”, had a passion for music and stereo equipment, and loved his dogs.
