Kathryn Calderaro

-

Kathryn earned her Golden Wings as she passed peacefully with her family singing by her side. She enjoyed “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”, “Volare”, “Somewhere over the Rainbow” and “Fields of Gold” by Sting and Fakateretere.

Kate was a deeply curious woman, an artist, musician and poet. She loved a good laugh. Always had music in her home and a dog by her side.

She was gifted with food, she brought Julia Child’s Bouillabaisse to her family after years of chipped beef on toast.

Kathryn also brought the love of theater and song to children by her volunteer work and board membership for the Performing Arts for Youth Society, The San Mateo Performing Arts Center and the Upper Peninsula League of the San Francisco Symphony.

Kathryn and her husband Charles, designed Crow’s Nest at Sea Ranch. They enjoyed their spectacular “soul home” with family and friends for over 50 years. Kate and Charles were married 73 years. They were Irish-Italian high school sweethearts in Springfield N.J.

They broke the cultural barrier, Kathryn would hide Charles in the trunk of her parents car while dating to keep their love secret. They could clear the dance floor with a crazy Jitterbug.

Kathryn’s favorite Italian response when asked how her day was going was, “Just another day in paradise’”, “Solo un altro in paradiso”.

Kate taught all of her children to see beauty in the world, by the life she chose to live.

Kathryn is pre-deceased by her husband, Charles George Calderaro. She is survived by her children: Camille C. Calderaro, James W. Calderaro, Kathy Calderaro, and Jean Kennedy; grandchildren: Pablo Calderaro, Mia Calderaro Beeson, and Sophie Kennedy; and a large extended family on the East Coast.

A singing family memorial is planned at Sea Ranch.
