Fiore “Joe” Giannini
Passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Florence Giannini. Loving father of Sandra (Tim) Hupke, Joanne Horton and Ronald (Denise) Giannini. Caring grandfather of Tom (Randi) Horton, Matthew Horton, Daniel, Stephen (Brittany) and Michael Giannini, Nicole and Brian Hupke. GreatGrandfather to Kayla, Easton, Ashlyn, Mason and Lane Horton. Cherished son of the late Fiore and Aladina Giannini and beloved brother of the late Olga Santiago, the late Ada De Paoli and the late Tosca Spes. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was born and lived his entire life in San Francisco. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, Everett Junior High and Mission High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the 25th Infantry Division of the US Army (Tropic Lightning). After his Honorable Discharge he was an employee at Peninsula Delivery Service, F.J. Burns Draying Co. and John Hornet’s Trucking. Worked briefly as a Brisbane Police Officer before joining the San Francisco Police Department as a Patrol Special Officer covering the Noe Valley and Castro areas. One of his greatest achievements was starting Golden Gate Burglar Alarm Company in 1968. Together, with his wife Florence, they built this family-run business that is now in its 54th year of operation, currently run by his son Ron and grandsons Daniel and Stephen.
He is a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Brotherhood of Teamsters and Auto Truck Drivers Local No. 85, the Native Sons of the Golden West – Guadalupe Parlor No. 231, Verdi Club of San Francisco, the Young’s Men Institute of South San Francisco, the Italian-American Social Club of San Francisco, the San Francisco Accordion Club, South of Market Boys, the Peace Officers’ Association and a life-long member of the American Legion San Francisco Post No. 1.
Friends may join in a celebration of Joe’s life at DUGGANS SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 am. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
