Carl Bennett Goodman

-

Following a week of tears, classic movies, music and even laughter, on 4/7/22, Carl Bennett Goodman passed away surrounded by his beloved wife (of 51 yrs), sons, and 2-grandchildren (Abe & Willa). He was a Chicago native and, in the 60’s, moved to San Francisco following his Army discharge to enjoy the culture and attend college.

Parents, Harold & Nettie Goodman, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife (Christine), brothers (Jay & Michael), sons (David & Charles), six grandchildren (Abe, Walker, Willa, Hunter, Bo, Winnie). Prior to passing he enjoyed visits from his dearest friends, Ben & Sun Costigan and Howard Coe.

After moving to California, he never left the sunshine state because it was “too damn cold” everywhere else. His signature beard, curly hair, belly and huge smile replicated a sweet Jewish Santa Claus vibe.

He devoted his career to serving disabled residents at Sonoma Developmental Center and dedicated his personal life to humoring his spouse and raising his sons to feel loved and supported, even when the youngest crashed car after car, after car--you get the picture.

In the past 15-yrs, he got to see both of his sons graduate college, marry (Erin O’Brien and Melissa Saxon) and the birth of 6 grandchildren (including the first four girls to join the Goodman family in six generations), the election of an African-American president of the USA and the Cubs finally win the world series. Pretty cool; so was he.

The family wishes to acknowledge the TLC provided by Alex Metzger, MD and staff and requests donations to the World Central Kitchen (202) 8446330 - donations@worldcentralkitchen.org A private memorial service is being planned.
