With deep sadness, the family of Walter George announces his unexpected passing on April 16, 2022. He was predecease­d by his parents, Bernadette Thompson and E. Lawrence George, and brothers; Clifford (Anne) and Edward George. He is survived by his sister, Sr. Mary Bernard Joseph, P.B.V.M. Walter will be forever loved and missed by his wife Carolyn and son Matthew.

Walter was born in San Francisco and attended Epiphany Grammar School, Riordan, and Balboa High Schools. He also completed many college and technical courses related to his occupation. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #104, a certified building inspector with the City of Redwood City, the San Francisco Internatio­nal Airport, the University of California, Berkeley, and a licensed general contractor.

Walter greatly enjoyed his retirement years and spending time with his family. In addition, he loved all sports and nature, and was an accomplish­ed skier and sailor. He sailed his boat competitiv­ely on the San Francisco Bay and was a member of YRA of S.F. Bay and the Single Handed

Sailing Society. He taught and inspired many others to sail. He was a lifetime automobile enthusiast, racing sports cars in the 60’s and 70’s, and very recently participat­ed in open track events with his son. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met.

Walter will be lovingly remembered by his sister in law, Beth George, sister and brother in law, Linda and Frank Ferratta, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A family service and celebratio­n of Walter’s life are being planned.
