Genevieve Wilson Posluch entered into rest on March 15, 2022 in Turlock, California. She was born on August 31, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gennie graduated from South High School and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she obtained her teaching credential.

She had her first teaching assignment in Ely, Nevada where she met her future husband, Henry Posluch. She and Hank fell in love and were married in Salt Lake City in 1951. They moved to San Francisco where Hank worked for the Pacific Telephone Company and Gennie taught in a one room schoolhouse in Pacifica.

She took time off from teaching to help raise her three children, David, Lynda and Bonnie, but resumed her career in the late 60s, where she taught lower primary grades in various schools for the Jefferson Union School District in Daly City. She retired in 1989.

Our mom was active in most of her children’s activities including sports, scouts and band. She planned our vacations and we camped all over the western United States and Canada. In 1973 she and most of the family toured England and Scotland in a camper and enjoyed many of the sites. In 2000 she got the family together and we toured eastern Europe including Hank and our Aunt Anne’s birthplace, Velke-Rovne, a village in Slovakia.

Gennie was an avid reader and a fan of old movies. The many quilts she sewed and her oil paintings are still displayed and enjoyed by the whole family. Mom and Dad loved to travel, especially to Dixieland Jazz festivals They also enjoyed hunting for antiques and researching our family’s genealogical history. They were big 49er fans and followed first the Seals, then the Giants baseball teams.

We miss Mom’s unique sense of humor and the the love she always gave so freely to family and friends. She was ahead of the times when it came to women’s rights and instilled these values in her children. Our mom also had strong opinions and beliefs in politics and religion but she always respected the views of others.

Gennie was preceded in passing by her parents, Alfred and Jessie Wilson, her sister, Marilyn Anderson, her husband of 55 years, Hank and grandson Wayde Rego. She is survived by her children, David (Lynn Ann), Lynda Rego (Rick), and Bonnie Schlegelmann, grandchildren, Ben Posluch (Juana), Mary Posluch and Daniel Gordon (Heather), James Rego, Sierra and Kai Schlegelmann, and great grandchildren, Christian Rego, Arica and Kenny Posluch.
