Play the long game

Regarding “Ditch Electoral College” (Letters to the Editor, May 5): This is a knee-jerk response to a Supreme Court that has been packed by the last president. I agree that we would not have these three justices, who all lied to Congress and the American people during their confirmation hearings, if the Electoral College didn’t exist.

The elimination of the Electoral College seems like the solution to so many Democrats, I get that, but we need to think long-term.

Texas is the key factor in all of this. So many California companies and people are moving to Texas that it’s easy to imagine it becoming a democratic state. When this happens, and it will happen within the next four years, the GOP will never win the White House ever again.

This will solve the Supreme Court problems and a whole host of other problems. Be patient.
