-

Peter Moffitt Holbrook died peacefully on July 13, after a short illness, at his home in San Francisco surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Stephanie H. Wharton (Fifi); two daughters, Sandra Holbrook James (Geoffrey) and Tania Holbrook Croft (Bruce) and two granddaughters, Daphne Phelan James and Lucie Holbrook James.

In addition, he is survived by his brothers, John and David Holbrook of New York City and their families. Born on September 16, 1947 in New York City; he spent his childhood in Bedford, NY. He attended Rippowam Country Day School, then The Millbrook School, before enrolling at the University of Denver.

After graduating with a BS in History, he moved with his family to San Francisco in 1970. He was descended from an old California Pioneer family and enjoyed connecting with his many Moffitt cousins. He began a long career in banking at the Crocker National Bank, Wells Fargo Bank and, later, the Pacific Bank. From his success as a trust specialist, he was recruited to start the Trust Company at The First

Republic Bank from which he retired as Senior Vice President.

In retirement, Peter spent many happy hours playing golf at the San Francisco Golf Club and The Burlingame Country Club. Aside from being an avid golfer, he was a legendary gamesman, where his love of cards and dominoes ensured many friendships at the Pacific Union Club.

There will be a private Celebration of Life for Peter at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to First Tee of San Francisco, a child development program for young golfers at 99 Harding Rd, San Francisco 94132 or Fetch Cares, rehabilitation and hospice home for dogs, PO Box 680597, Park City, UT 84068
