John Hickman
John D. Hickman of San Francisco, CA passed away surrounded by his family on July 1, 2022. He was 79 years old. Born in Rochester, Minnesota to Julia and John S. Hickman, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Adrienne Hickman, his sister and her husband Gail and Gary Burns and their family, his children Winifred McGeorge, Amanda Hickman, and Oliver Hickman, their partners Uwe Willenbacher and Noah Budnick, and his grandsons Hamish and Caden. John graduated from Point Loma High School in San Diego, received his BA from UC Berkeley and his JD from Hastings College of Law. A celebration of his life will be held at the Miraloma Park Club House, 350 O’Shaughnessy Blvd, San Francisco on Saturday, August 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the ACLU or the National Lawyers Guild.
Peter was born in Bern, Switzerland on August 11, 1937. He moved to the U.S. in 1961 to continue his study of Engineering. He received a master’s degree in mechanical Engineering from Kansas State in Hayes, Kansas and was married there too. Peter worked for Boeing Aircraft, Shell Oil, the USDA, and Westinghouse. His two children were born in the 70’s in San Francisco. He loved them dearly and they stayed close until the end. Peter loved fast cars, motorcycles, jazz, yoga, and keeping up with local and world news. He was fluent in three languages. Through the years, he maintained contact with a number of friends who still live in Switzerland.
Peter leaves behind his daughter Karin and son-inlaw, Justin. They have two children Tara (16) and Dylan (14). He also leaves behind his son, Nick and daughterin-law, Ella. They have two girls, Eva, 6 and Nina, 4. He also leaves behind his wife, Diane. Since March of this year, Peter’s life was filled with illness and many complications. He passed away quietly in the hospital on the afternoon of July 14 with his family by his side. He is greatly missed.
