William Warner

-

Thought by many to have 9 lives, Bill passed away at the age of 79 after battling several serious medical conditions. Son of Sumner and Margaret Warner, he was born in the Sunset District of San Francisco, growing up there until the family moved to San Rafael in 1968. Bill was a regular on Dance Party in the 60’s and a talented drummer hosting many lively jam sessions in the garage on 33rd Avenue. He was a life-long 49ers fan attending games at Kezar Stadium as a “Christopher Milk Kid”; photos of Y.A. Tittle and other favorites adorned his bedroom wall. Bill attended Lawton, Presidio, and A.P. Giannini schools, and he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. He served honorably in the United States Marin Corps during the Vietnam conflict.

Bill joined “The Golden Gate Bridge Family” in the 1980’s. He loved his work for the next 20+ years, and was proud of winning several annual bus driving competitions. He retired from Golden Gate Transit in 2004. For the last 25 years he lived in Sonoma, CA. He was an avid golfer and a true dog lover. He had two “aces” (or holes-in-one) to his name. He had a quirky sense of humor and enjoyed taking the opposite side of a political discussion just to spice it up.

William is survived by a wonderful family. His beloved son Justin Warner that always made him so proud. This pride came along with his daughterin-law Jacquelyn and two grandchildren, Reese and Ashley, all of San Anselmo. William is also survived by his adored and cherished daughter Paige Marie Warner of San Francisco. His immediate family includes his sister Susan Warner Leidy and his nephew Jonathan Leidy. They are just two of many in a large extended loving family.

A private celebration of his life will be held with family and friends in August where we will all raise a toast to Bill with his favorite drink, Coca-Cola.
