Warriors to open against Lakers

The Warriors will host LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night of the 2022-23 NBA season at Chase Center on Oct. 18, according to the Athletic.

The team is also expected to receive its championsh­ip rings that night to celebrate their NBA Finals victory over the Boston Celtics. So will former Warriors reserve Juan Toscano-Anderson, who signed a one-year, veteran's minimum deal with the Lakers in June.

The NBA's full schedule for next season is expected to be announced in the coming days, and teams reserve the right to make any adjustment­s until it's officially released.

NHL: The Sharks filled out head coach David Quinn's staff, hiring Scott Gordon and Ryan Warsofsky as his assistants, Thomas Speer as the goaltendin­g coach and Nick Gialdini as video coach.
