Charlotte Siggins

-

Irreverent. Charming. Witty. Beautiful. Charlotte will be greatly missed. Born in Mount Vernon, Arkansas in 1938 to Ena and Nolen Smith, Dixie Charlotte Siggins spent her earliest years on a farm with no running water or electricity. She graduated from Conway High School and Texas Woman’s University. When bigger dreams beckoned, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked in advertising. After a brief stint in Hawaii, she planted roots in San Francisco, where she met and married Dick Siggins and had three children. Never one for complacency, Charlotte began law school in her early 40s, eventually piloting the “airplane room” in the City Attorney’s office. Upon retiring, Charlotte and her dear friend moved to Portugal and later Aixen-Provence. Perennially curious, Charlotte enlisted in the Peace Corps in her late 60s, where she served three years in Dolyna, Ukraine. Charlotte spent her final years in Sacramento where she dabbled in a variety of civic and social roles, including performing at the Crest Theater in the Vagina Monologues and serving two years on the Grand Jury. A lover of adventure, travel, conversation, literature, and vodka martinis, Charlotte inspired many to veer from the traditional path and chase their dreams. Charlotte was never one to suffer fools. Instead, she amassed an impressive collection of dear friends that span both generations and continents: not least of all, her sister, her grandson Chauncey, her children, their friends, her beloved neighbor girls, nieces, nephews, the f’ing turtles, and all the countless lives touched. In lieu of flowers, please pour yourself a cocktail and start planning your next adventure.
