of 50+ years. Despite a busy work schedule, he was always active in his children’s activities, schools, the Catholic parish, and the overall Marin community.

After his retirement at 68, he travelled extensively with Toni and friends, golfed at Peacock and Meadow Club, “worked out” at Olympic Club and served on both company and charitable boards, including many years on the Board of Hanna Boys Center, a center for at risk youth, in Sonoma.

Don cherished family gatherings during the holidays and organized family trips throughout the world. He touched the lives of all he met and had so many special attributes: fun and festive, generous in spirit, giving with his time and support to the community and those in need, great sense of humor, strong Catholic faith, a passion for travel, and an incredibly loyal friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hanna Boys Center for Boys https://www. hannacenter.org/; Marin Center for Independent Living https://www.marincil. org; or Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County https://www.vinnies.org/.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Raphael’s Church, 1104 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael, CA at 11 am on Friday, August 26, followed by a reception.

Vincent Michael (Mike) Greene was born on October 14, 1944, in Oakland, CA to Vincent and Louise Greene. Mike died unexpectedly at his Napa home on April 6, 2022.

Due to his father’s career as a Naval Officer the first 18 years of his life were spent in California, England, New York, Morocco, Spain, South Carolina and Florida. Mike attended college at the University of Florida and Florida State. He entered the U.S. Navy as a seaman in May 1966, went to Officer Candidate School in February 1967 and was stationed aboard the USS Union until it was decommissioned in May 1970.

While onboard the Union he was a supply officer and saw such ports as Da Nang, Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Yokosuka, Japan, Bangkok, Thailand and Olongapo, Philippines. Upon discharge he eventually settled in San Francisco where he first worked for the brokerage firm of Shumen, Agnew & Co. He later went to work for the Veteran’s Administration in the mortgage insurance department and stayed there until 1976. He transferred to HUD where he eventually became a senior project manager and

Jeanne (Gina) Larue, died at home in Oakland after a 5-year battle with cancer. She was born at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, the only daughter of Sam and Natalie Lucchese. She grew up in Berkeley, attending elementary through high school there, and continued on to Cal, graduating in 1976 with degrees in economics and psychology. Having worked in retail sales at the old Hink’s department store during college, after graduating, she returned to the venerable store and became the personnel manager. Her career took her to Capwell’s/Emporium in similar roles. She married her high school sweetheart, David Larue in 1977, who she met in the summer of 1967 when they were both counselors at a camp for handicapped children in the Santa Cruz mountains. He was just 16 and she was 3 weeks shy of her 15th birthday.

Gina was a stay-at-home mom for several years but once her two sons were in school, she returned to her career – this time in the tech sector – heading up the human resource departments, first at GeoWorks and then Scientific Learning Co. – retiring from the latter as VP of Human Resources in 2016.

Her passions included reading fiction, English dramas on television, hiking and doting on her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband, David, her retired in August 2004.

While in San Francisco he bought and remodeled 5 homes becoming more adept and knowledgeable with each one. Mike volunteered at several AIDS organizations including the AIDS Emergency Fund (Volunteer of the year in 1994), the Stop AIDS project and Family Link. As a volunteer he did data entry, sold beer fest tickets and typed reimbursement checks for AIDS victims.

As a hobby he took up stained glass making and hand-crafted monogram light catchers for many of his friends. Though the truth be told most of them were never seen again.

A fan of the Oscars he hosted over 30 Oscar dinners as well as numerous cocktail parties and barbeques. After retirement he became a movie and TV extra appearing in 3 feature length films and several TV shows until the roles stopped coming in due to what he called the terrible too’s. Too old, too short and too white.

No formal services are scheduled. As a final salute at the next Oscar’s or AIDS event you attend - raise a glass in memory of Mike. sons: Ian (Karin) and Peter, brothers: David (Joan) and Robert (Kate); nephews George (Allyson), Graham (Morgan), Adam (Sarah), Spencer, Nikk (Bianca), nieces: Tia Warren (Mike), Sevda Lucchese and Elise Lucchese; sisters in law: Joan Lucchese (David), Kate Lucchese (Robert), Becky Terry (Mike) and Dawn Larue (Rick); brothers in law: Rick Larue (Dawn), Tony Larue (Bonnie) and Mike Terry (Becky). Last but not least, her granddaughters: Madeline and Remi, as well as grand nieces and nephews and any babies within her social orbit.

Gina was loved for her personal generosity and genuine empathy – she will be sadly missed by all who knew her – A celebration of her life will be held in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Camp Krem, (formerly, Camping Unlimited, a recreational program for developmentally handicapped children).
