Creative Growth fashion show goes digital
Creative Growth, the Oakland art center dedicated to artists with developmental, intellectual and physical disabilities, is set for the return of its “Beyond Trend” fashion show, but with a twist.
This year, the runway will take place on the big screen as models and artists show off extraordinary creations, combining principals of fine art, textile design and fashion. In addition to the fashion show, the evening will also include the premiere of Cheryl Dunn’s documentary “Beyond I Wanna Go,” celebrating a decade of fashion design at the organization; the release of the latest edition of Creative Growth Magazine; opportunities to shop the runway designs and other work by the artists; and a dance party with music by DJ Martha Reyna and Orquesta La Moderna Tradición. “Beyond Trend: 10th Anniversary Extravaganza”: Presented by Creative Growth. 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. $150-$500.
