Creative Growth fashion show goes digital

Creative Growth, the Oakland art center dedicated to artists with developmen­tal, intellectu­al and physical disabiliti­es, is set for the return of its “Beyond Trend” fashion show, but with a twist.

This year, the runway will take place on the big screen as models and artists show off extraordin­ary creations, combining principals of fine art, textile design and fashion. In addition to the fashion show, the evening will also include the premiere of Cheryl Dunn’s documentar­y “Beyond I Wanna Go,” celebratin­g a decade of fashion design at the organizati­on; the release of the latest edition of Creative Growth Magazine; opportunit­ies to shop the runway designs and other work by the artists; and a dance party with music by DJ Martha Reyna and Orquesta La Moderna Tradición. “Beyond Trend: 10th Anniversar­y Extravagan­za”: Presented by Creative Growth. 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. $150-$500.
