Barbara, a proud native of San Francisco, graduated from Star of the Sea High School (1961), earned a degree from San Jose State University and went on to enjoy a 37-year career as a teacher at the Evergreen School District in San Jose, CA. She was a passionate educator and loved teaching her students, many of whom she remained in contact with over the years.

She enjoyed celebratin­g life with family and friends, her annual vacations with dear friends to Calistoga and Morro Bay, Pedro card game tournament­s, and was a loyal fan of the San Francisco 49er’s and SF Giants.

Barbara is survived by her brother, Edward Burns (Nancy Curtin); niece, Michelle Gordon (Aaron), nephew, Brian Burns (Heather), great-niece, Elizabeth Gallagher-Burns (Evan), great-nephews, Owen Gordon, Colin Burns and Brayden Burns, and many circles of beloved friends. Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Barbara was lover of animals calling them affectiona­tely “the four leggers.” She was a donor to several animal care organizati­ons. In remembranc­e of Barbara’s

life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority, 3370 Thomas Road, Santa Clara, CA 95054.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31st from 4pm-8pm with Rosary being at 7pm at Darling Fischer, 231 E. Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 1st at 12:30pm at St. Lucy Parish, 2350 S Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008.

Graveside committal will be held on Friday, September 2nd at 2pm at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy 92 and Skyline Blvd, San Mateo, CA 94062.
