-

Virginia (Ginger) Reed Levick died suddenly on July 29, 2022 at the age of 85 from cardiac arrest brought on by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a debilitating neurological disorder which gradually shut down her body functions. The good news is that she passed away quickly and painlessly and avoided a problematic end.

Ginger was a force of nature, who gave joy to so many people through her vibrant personality and her wonderfully irreverent wit. She was just plain fun to be with. She also had the capacity to be both whimsical at times and thoughtfully engaged at others, an unusual breadth of character. She had many caring acquaintances and loving friends who will miss her greatly.

Ginger was born in Summit, NJ, attended Summit High School and graduated from Connecticut College. During her early married years, Ginger was actively involved in special education for her now-deceased Down’s Syndrome daughter, Deborah Levick. She developed a course on “Handicapping Conditions” which was implemented in all Boston schools. As her children matured, she returned to school, got her MA in Psychology, earned her MFCC Certificate and had a private counseling practice in Palo Alto and Menlo Park for 20 years.

Ginger’s great life challenge was significant chronic back pain that limited her activities her whole life and required multiple surgeries.

She persevered heroically, nevertheless. without complaint. She was a strong and determined woman who did not let obstacles deter her.

Ginger lived for major periods of time in New York City, Greenwich, CT, Paris, France, Boston, Atherton and Palo Alto. She was a member of the Menlo Country Club, the Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula and the San Francisco Symphony League.

She is survived by Douglas Levick, her husband of 58 years, her daughter Carolee Hazard, her son Reed Levick and her five grandchildren.
