Thomas Haran

-

On May 29, 2022, at the age of 78 years of age, Thomas Haran passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to Patricia for 52 years, and loving father of Gina (John) Shanley, and Amy (James) Naughton. He was also the proud Papa to his grandchildren Nicole, Sean and Peter.

Tom was the son of the late Mary and James Haran, and the adored son in law of the late Bruno and Ada Caramatti. He was the brother of the late James, Daniel and Christoper Haran. He is survived by his sister Noel (Gregory) Kay, his sister in law Jean Caramatti and his nieces and nephews. Tom was a San Francisco native. He grew up in the Sunset district and graduated from St. Stephens, Archbishop Riordan High School, Golden Gate University (BA and Masters degrees) and San Francisco Law School. Education was extremely important to him, and he was a respected member of the California Bar Association for 44 years. Tom worked as an attorney at Dooley, Anderson, Johnson and Pardini, and later at Bishop, Barry, Howe, Haney and Ryder where he became the Managing Partner.

Tom loved to play golf, and was a lifelong member of the Olympic Club. He was always planning golf tournaments for his law firm or organizing golf trips with his friends. He also traveled the country to Marshall in the U.S. Open tournaments. Tom was also very proud of his Irish-American heritage, and his St. Patrick’s day dinner parties were a favorite amongst his and Patty’s friends. Tom and Patty also enjoyed spending weekends in Napa, and traveling with their children, grandkids and friends.

The family would like to thank two of Tom’s very special physicians, who not only looked after his health, but also guided us in taking care of him until the end, Dr. Gerald Murphy and Dr. Andrew Gross. In addition, we would like to thank the entire staff at Pacifica Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for caring dearly for Tom during the final years of his life.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Monday, September 19th. Please email ginaharan1@gmail. com for more information and to rsvp.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in Tom’s name at UCSF Rheumatology Clinic, or the American Diabetes Association.

You will forever be greatly missed, and will always be in our hearts.
