Deanna Dames
Deanna Lynne Dames, 56, passed away on June 16, 2022, in Portland, Oregon. The catalog of professional and personal accomplishments she leaves behind is so extensive that one marvels at how a single person could have achieved so much. Born in San Diego County on March 25, 1966, Deanna attended El Cajon Valley High School then later studied art history and business at Scripps College. In the mid-90s, she moved Bay Area where she began an illustrious marketing career that spanned two decades in numerous companies including AT&T, Embarcadero Technologies, and IBM.
Deanna later moved to the Pacific Northwest where she established her own marketing consulting business. During her six years in Portland, OR, Deanna worked as the “Marketing Maven,” an independent consultant to small businesses. She volunteered her skills as well, supporting women entrepreneurs and small farmers. Deanna had a robust network of friends who could always count on her to provide advice or a delicious meal. She exuded love and generosity, and persevered through the loss of her fiancé, parents, and two dogs. She sent birthday gifts and Christmas cards to friends and family like clockwork.
Deanna was an extraordinary godmother and aunt, and officiated the wedding of her oldest nephew, Enoch Dames. She excelled in her hobbies and interests: cooking, catering, gardening, photography, yoga, scuba diving, genealogy, and traveling. Deanna was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Thelma Dames of San Diego, CA, as well as the love of her life and fiancé, Dale Haydock of Bremerton, WA. Deanna is survived by her brother, Edward, her sister-in-law Christine, and nephews Enoch and Aaron Dames. She also leaves her sister, Eva Dames, and niece Trish Molfino. Deanna led a rich and exuberant life, and will be missed immensely by her family and many friends.
