Veronica Klaus celebrates Peggy Lee’s centenary

- — Tony Bravo

For the first time in 2½ years, beloved chanteuse Veronica Klaus is set to return to San Francisco for two nights of performances alongside her longtime collaborators, pianist Tammy Hall and the Tammy Hall Trio.

The shows at Mr. Tipple’s will feature the music of singercomposer Peggy Lee, in honor of the centenary of her birth. Lee, whose hits include “Fever” as well as writing the music for Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp,” is an artist whose work Klaus has famously reinterpreted through the years.

Klaus was a longtime fixture of the Bay Area cabaret scene, and renowned for the “Cafe Klaus” performance-dinners she hosted in her Hayes Valley apartment before leaving San Francisco in 2016. Miss V singing Miss Lee at a late-night show feels like a return to the kind of times people move to big cities to experience.
