San Francisco’s beloved Fall Show is back for the first time since the pandemic began, just in time for its 40th anniversary. Formerly known as the Fall Antiques Show, the event was founded in 1982 to showcase the best of the antique and design worlds. And for the first time this year, proceeds will benefit the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

The 2022 ruby jubilee show is set to feature more than 50 international dealers specializing in fine and decorative arts, books, jewelry and furniture. In recent years since the “antique” requirement was dropped by the show organizers, Art Deco, midcentury modern and contemporary art have all seen a dramatic upswing at the Fall Show: You may now find an English Regency-period sideboard next to a modern Marcel Breuer chair.

The fair opens with its traditional gala Wednesday,

Oct. 12, followed by programming through Oct. 16, including lectures and panels on history and design as well as book talks. Panelists will include Vogue editor at large and World of Interiors editor in chief Hamish Bowles; Emma Manners, the duchess of Rutland; and designer and Saint Joseph’s Arts Society founder Ken Fulk.
