The partial remains of a 24-year-old Oakley woman missing since January have been found, the city of Oakley said Friday night.

The remains of Alexis Gabe, who suddenly disappeared Jan. 26, were found near Jackson Road in Plymouth (Amador County), a region where Gabe’s ex-boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones, 27, traveled to in the days after she was reported missing. The city said that because of the nature of her remains and the lack of a full body, it is believed that Gabe’s remains are scattered in various areas.

A local resident notified the Amador County Sheriff’s Office after finding something “suspicious” thought to be human remains Thursday afternoon. The remains were recovered by the Sheriff ’s Office later that day, and a forensic odontologist later examined the remains and positively identified them as Gabe’s, the city said.

Local authorities suspect Jones killed Gabe in his Antioch home the day she went missing. U.S. Marshals Service officers in Washington state shot and killed Jones in early June after he allegedly charged at officials with a knife as they tried to arrest him for Gabe’s death.
