John (Jack) Douglas Gray

John (Jack) Douglas Gray, was born on December 31, 1959, at Children’s Hospital, in San Francisco, to Francis Douglas Gray, and Amy Kovacic Gray, the sixth child and sibling to Binka, Gordon, Susan McClure (Patrick), Frank (Maura), MaryAnn Hare (Bill); Greta and Amy Anne followed Jack within the next few years. Jack had many nieces and nephews, as well: Cheris; Julian; Suezanne, Amber, Shannon, Vee, Alex; Aaron, Rachael; Beau, Max, Madeline, and Isabella. Grandniece­s and nephews include Jillian, Ainsley, Hazel, Ruby, Mateo and Tomas.

The family resided in Westlake, Daly City. Jack attended Vista Mar Elem., Ben Franklin JHS, and Westmoor/Thornton High School.

Jack worked for many years at Brass Works, a metal specialty company in SF, and then worked for years at Del Rey Graphics, Belmont, a stationary gift pack company. He moved to Indianapol­is, Indiana, in 2003, to follow Del Rey, and subsequent­ly bought into the company in conjunctio­n with other partners.

Jack was a lifelong Giants and 49ers fan. He loved to discuss sports and politics. He was also an avid boater when he still lived in the Bay Area, and even refurbishe­d a Chris-Craft boat as a hobby.

Jack suffered from alcoholism (Substance Use Disorder), as do many of his family members, including his father, who died in 1985, and nephew, Beau, who died in 2020.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved mother, Amy, his Uncle Gordon, Aunti Binki, and cousin, Allison.

Jack passed away on October 19, 2022. Jack will be loved and missed by his family, and all who knew and loved him. Kusha Jack.
