Reneé J. Cohen was born in Los Angeles, CA., on March 19, 1945, to Jerome and Mary Cohen. She was the last surviving, youngest of four siblings. For more than 50 years she lived on Russian Hill and worked in San Francisco.

Reneé worked as a hairstylist at the Hairport on Grant Avenue for many years. Later in 1996, she opened her own salon and boutique called Citrine on Fillmore Street, where she worked for over 25 years and became a beloved neighborhood fixture.

Through her work as a hairstylist and generous hospitality, she made a lifetime of friends that meant the world to her and became like family. Reneé possessed a wonderful sense of humor and there was always laughter in her shop. Her personalized license plate read “glitze” and declared her fabulous style to the world.

Reneé loved to entertain and enjoyed dining out around the City with her dear friends. She was an avid dog lover, especially of her sweet Lulu. Our dearest sweet Reneé was loved by all who met her. She touched our lives with her generosity and love.

On November 8, 2021, Reneé died at home after an extended illness, which she valiantly battled for over 15 years.

Reneé, you will always live on in our memory and especially in our hearts.
