Tacos Al Pastor Puebla

-

A block from the Oakland Flea Market on weekends, Tacos Al Pastor Puebla sets up alongside many other eating attractions. This taqueria specializes in only one meat: Pueblan-style al pastor shaved razor-thin onto a tortilla from a jumbo trompo. The taqueria only sells tacos on corn tortillas ($3.50), gringas ($9) — a quesadilla on flour tortillas — and al pastor by the pound. Each taco is studded with a bit of tangy pineapple to bring out the meat’s savory qualities. The two salsas — one a green emulsion of oil and tomatillos and the other a fiery red — also work to heighten the adobo-marinated pork’s power.

4930 Coliseum Way, Oakland. 8 a.m.-4 p.m FridaySunday.
