Tacos Mama Cuca
Sonoran flour tortilla phenom Maria Marquez, a.k.a. Mama Cuca, has been quietly making some of the best tortillas the Bay Area has ever seen. In 2022, Marquez opened her Sonoran taqueria Tacos Mama Cuca, a hot spot for proper carne asada and flour tortillas. The taco yaqui ($9) is slightly bigger than a regular taco, stuffed with a cheesy Anaheim pepper and grilled carne. When you visit the Sonoran taqueria, Marquez gives every visitor a botana — a snack — in the form of a tortilla smeared with porky beans. It is awesome.
