Thomas (Tom) Huvane, 90, passed away on November 10, 2022. Tom was born on January 21, 1932 in San Francisco to Anne (Shanley) and Thomas Huvane (Sr.), who emigrated from Ireland in the early 1900s.

Raised in San Francisco, Tom later made his home in San Mateo and then Lake Oswego, OR. Tom married his beloved wife Jane (Christopher) in 1969. He is survived by his wife and three children: Brian, Kathleen and husband Peter (Guillozet), and John.

Tom was a man of great faith with a kind and compassionate heart. He served in the Korean War and returned home to obtain a teaching credential. He taught history, earning a master’s in education from the University of San Francisco and working as middle school Vice Principal and elementary school Principal. Tom took sincere delight in working with and for kids, believing in each child’s potential. A lifelong advocate for education, youth, and families, he touched many lives through his work.

Tom loved sharing meals and conversation with family and was a devoted fan of college basketball and football, in particular the Notre Dame fighting Irish.

He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at https://www.svdppdx.org/ make-a-donation. A celebration of life will take place in San Francisco on 1/21/23. Contact k.guillozet@gmail. com for details.
